Reserving items
Can I reserve any items of stock myself?
You can only reserve items of stock yourself that are currently on loan.
How can I reserve a book?
Access the item on The Catalogue and if all available copies are on loan, click on the blue "Reserve" button next to the title of the work.
You will be prompted to input your borrower number and PIN to confirm your reservation.

You will not be able to reserve an item if you have been suspended for any reason; you already have a copy of the item on loan; you have already reserved a copy or if there are copies available for loan on the shelves.
How will I know when my reservation is ready to collect?
You will receive a notification via email to your university email account.
You can also check your account via the Catalogue at any time or by telephoning 01642 342100. Any reserved items ready for collection will have a status of "Waiting Collection". Items that are still on loan will have a status of "Active".
I have received notification of a reserved item, but cannot get into the Library for a few days. What can I do?
Not a problem. We keep reserved items on the Reservation shelves located near the self-service machines for a week to give you time to get in to collect them.
Can I reserve an item for collection at Darlington that is held at Middlesbrough Campus?
Yes, complete an intersite loan request form at Darlington Campus Library. We will let you know when your request is ready for collection.
I want to keep my reserved item for longer than the loan period?
You can renew your reserved item in the usual ways once it is on loan to you. The Renewals page and
Factsheet 24: Renewals (pdf - 183kb) have more detailed information on how to renew your loans.
