Recycling in the Library - update
![]() |
Following the introduction of recycling facilities, our current recycling rate is 48% of all bin waste, an increase from 17% pre-recycle bins. We would like to increase this to 60% by the summer. |
| Black lid | Blue lid | Orange lid |
| Waste for landfill Food waste, contaminated polystyrene |
Newspapers, magazines, catalogues, envelopes, flattened cardboard, office paper | Tins & drink cans, plastics, empty packaging, clean polystyrene |
At least 75% of waste currently placed in the black bins can be recycled; this includes plastic sandwich wrappers, crisp packets, plastic bottles and empty coffee cups and their lids.
Please use the recycling bins on all the floors of the Library. Help us by removing all your rubbish from study areas and placing it in the correct recycling bin. This will help us cut the amount of waste sent by the University to landfill, reduce our impact on the environment, and help keep the Library clean for all of its users.
